A message from Gina Dolphus, President of the Deline Land Corporation

As part of the Deline Land Corporation, I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of self-government negotiation meetings in Ottawa and Yellowknife over the past two years and I have been really impressed. When you’re in a big negotiation, it isn’t always easy to get people to agree. But the government of Canada, the GNWT and the Deline Negotiation Team have all worked together to build a really strong agreement for Deline.

Now that the Final Self-Government Agreement has been initialled, we all have to take the time to get informed about what self-government will mean for us. This is the time to ask questions and learn about the tools self-government will provide us. We owe it to ourselves to learn all we can and make an informed decision.

I believe in the potential of our community and our people. I believe that with one united government for our community we can build a stronger Deline. But each person has to make their own decision, take their own responsibility. So please, ask questions, get informed and, most importantly, cast your vote.

Mahsi.
