Notice calling for nominations of DGGR members

Notice is given to the Beneficiaries of Deline that appointment for the first Dene Gha Gok’e rehkw’i (DGGR or Beneficiaries Board) Members of the Deline Got’ine Government will take place on the Effective Date (September 1, 2016).

The DGGR provides recommendations to the Deline K’aowedo Ke (DKK or Main Council) when making decisions on land claim rights, lands and financial assets. Four members will be appointed. The Ekw’ahtide will also serve as a DGGR member. The appointments are for a term of two years.

All Beneficiaries, regardless of where they live, can nominate another Beneficiary to sit on the DGGR. All Beneficiaries will also be able to review the nominations and provide comments. Following the comment period, the Ekw’ahtide and the DKK will appoint the four DGGR members from among those nominated. At least two members must be non-resident Beneficiaries.

Nominees are required to meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Beneficiary who is a member of the Sahtu Dene and Metis Land Claim Agreement and a member of the Deline Land Corporation;
  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age as of the Effective Date (September 1, 2016);
  • Not have been convicted of a fraud-related crime at any time; and
  • Not have been convicted of an indictable offence within the past five (5) years.

Nominations for appointees as DGGR Members must be received before 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2016.

Nomination packages can be requested from the Nominations Officer. Nominations must be delivered to the Nominations Officer by hand, or via Fax or email, with the subject line DGGR NOMINATION, at:

Nominations packages must include:

  • The Nominee’s CV;
  • A statement or video clip of no more than 250 words (1 page), to be publicly available, stating:
    • How the Nominee’s education, and/or knowledge and experience benefit the DGGR?
    • How the Nominee’s participation on the DGGR will contribute to its success?
  • The completed nomination form signed by both the Nominee and Nominator; and
  • A picture (optional) to be placed on the ourdeline.ca website, along with the statement above that is provided by the Nominee.
