The Délı̨nę Got’ı̨nę Government is seeking to fill one (1) Casual Teacher’s Assistant position. Reporting to the Daycare Manager, under the directorship of the Education Department, the Teacher’s Assistant is responsible for helping provide a safe environment for students. Casual Teacher’s Assistants work to enhance the student experience by supporting engaging, stimulating, and safe activities. They help ensure students understand the activities they are participating in throughout the day and contribute to creating a mentally and physically healthy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation, supervision, and cleanup of daily activities and learning centres.
- Support children’s health, safety, and independence by assisting with personal care routines, including bathroom
visits, hand washing, meals, and rest time. - Help prepare and organize instructional materials, visual aids (such as posters and labels), and the classroom
environment to support daily programs. - Provide constant and active supervision of children to ensure a safe, positive, and inclusive environment.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and orderly classroom by following established hygiene and safety protocols.
- Observe and relay important information related to children’s development, behaviour, and well-being to the Lead
Teacher or Daycare Manager. - Work cooperatively as a flexible and reliable member of the teaching team
Qualifications:
- One year of similar experience, with some experience working with children.
- Ability to support and supervise students in a safe and structured environment.
- Valid First Aid and CPR-C certification.
- Successful completion of baseline TB screening prior to employment.
- Ability to obtain a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check through the local RCMP detachment.
Working Conditions:
This position involves working directly with students and supporting daily programming activities. The work environment requires active supervision, cooperation with staff, and responsiveness to student needs.
Additional Requirements:
• Indigenous language ability is an asset.
