Sahtu Day and Indigenous Day Event Overview
The Délįnę Got’įnę Government proudly presents an extraordinary Sahtu Day and Indigenous Long Weekend, June 20-23, 2025, bursting with cultural pride and community spirit.
Event Highlights
Get ready for an opening ceremony with drumming, and powerful energy, paired with Indigenous games featuring one-foot-high kicks, stick pulls, arm pulls, and archery. Families will love captivating entertainment with hoop dancing, a motivational speaker, and a dynamic hip-hop performance, followed by a hilarious Comedy Show with Don Burnstick for laughter and healing.
The culture market will shine with vibrant demos, crafts, and a mouthwatering traditional fish fry, while the traditional fashion show dazzles with stunning displays and prizes. Test your skills in competitive handgames with a generous prize pool, and ignite your potential at the youth empowerment workshop blending entrepreneurship, creativity, and culture. Elders will cherish a heartwarming bannock and teatime with old photos, boardgames, and treats, alongside a delicious community brunch uniting all; Of course we also planned a kids fun day with games and prizes!
Embark on an exciting scavenger hunt with cash prizes, complemented by a transformative wellness workshop on health and leadership, and a profound broken cycle of addictions workshop with Don Burnstick on healing and recovery.
Sports fans will thrill at the baseball and the volleyball tournament with rewards for mixed teams, as well as a BBQ tournament with a free feast of hotdogs and hamburgers, while the coffee house offers a cozy Sahtu Day presentation and trivia.
The grand finale, a talent show and family fun night, features an Elvis Impersonator Contest, indoor games, and prizes, ending with a majestic Closing Ceremony of drum dance and raffles.
